Be A Vegetarian

I don’t think that eating meat is completely unhealthy – exept for the animals of course – but it is a strange habit to eat cadavers. Beside this, animals are raised in a very cruel way – not all of them – but a large number. These animals are very unhappy and I guess that this disaster manifests also in the meat that is eaten. This is really inferior food.

Imagine instead  light and good-tasting dishes with lots of vegetables and fruits. Most receipts of the so-called cucina povera, the “poor kitchen” are wonderful vegetarian preparations and not to forget Indian food, which is also delicious.  I don’t write for now about all the animals “serving” in research, because it is too bestial. Let us rather focus on a world without killing. Maybe not killing animals will also stop killing people.

One farmer says to me, “You cannot live on vegetable food solely, for it furnishes nothing to make the bones with;” and so he religiously devotes a part of his day to supplying himself with the raw material of bones; walking all the while he talks behind his oxen, which, with vegetable-made bones, jerk him and his lumbering plow along in spite of every obstacle.  ~ Henry David Thoreau

Think of the fierce energy concentrated in an acorn!  You bury it in the ground, and it explodes into an oak!  Bury a sheep, and nothing happens but decay.
~ George Bernard Shaw

We manage to swallow flesh only because we do not think of the cruel and sinful thing that we do.  Cruelty… is a fundamental sin, and admits of no arguments or nice distinctions.  If only we do not allow our heart to grow callous, it protests against cruelty, is always clearly heard; and yet we go on perpetrating cruelties easily, merrily, all of us – in fact, anyone who does not join in is dubbed a crank.  ~ Rabindranath Tagore

Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.  ~ Albert Einstein
